Things to check when real-time location tracking is not working

If real-time location tracking is not working, it may be due to the following reasons.

 

1. The device is not connected to the internet

If your child has turned off mobile data or has exhausted their monthly data allowance on a pay-as-you-go plan, the device cannot receive location search signals, making location tracking impossible. Just because you were able to speak with your child on the phone recently does not mean the device is connected to the internet. Cellular networks and internet networks are completely separate.

2. GPS accuracy settings on the device are low

The device's GPS settings must be set to high accuracy. Please refer to the following help article.

3. GPS on the device is turned off

If the GPS function is turned off, location tracking is not possible. We provide a feature to prevent GPS from being turned off; please refer to items 1 and 4 in the following link.

 

4. The device is in sleep mode

If the device has not been used for a long period, it enters sleep mode to save battery, making location tracking impossible.
